It's all a matter of tastes, sir.. and dont' forget that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.. cool.gif

"Gustatus in se veritas, in significatione disputandus"!

I think I'm with Aristotle on the objective reality of beauty, given that mathematicians rely on it so much in their work. You couldn't explain the existence of string theory otherwise!
Perhaps I'm referring to "formositas" and you to "pulchritudo", which are arguably different realities (the latter being subjective).

PS If somebody said to you that he thought the view of Mantua from across the lake was ugly and boring, would you say "OK", or want to argue before refraining on account of his obvious insanity, or simply want to hit him?

I have always been convinced of the eminently subjective nature of all aesthetical evaluations, and I will forever be.. sorry.

OK, but then you cannot complain if people prefer grotty smartphone photos to your sumptuously crafted works of art, can you? You can only mourn!

OTOH, I can, and do, complain about the preference for ugly, cheap, kitschy crap in any sphere of art. There's a four-letter word in English which refers to people who promote that sort of thing (Andy Warhol springs to mind) which is also used for the item which Charlotte has between her legs.

I note that Charlotte hasn't repainted her toenails yet!

I believe in freedom of expression.. those chaps have the right of finding "grotty smartphone photos" exciting.. and I have the right of finding them boring and crappy.. laugh.gif tongue.gif
No, she hasn't.. I like her that way.. biggrin.gif

IMHO, your work is of sufficiently good quality to qualify for gallery exhibition and folio publishing. I think that you could quite easily find gallery space in Milan for a selection from "Barefoot Urban Girls", and if not there then in certain northern European cities for "Barefoot Nudity".

Dear sir..
please take no offence, but I have ONLY THIS THREAD here to advertise MY OWN paysite BAREFOOT NUDITY.
So with all due respect and appreciation for cute Olga, and with all the (unfortunately rather limited) good manners I can count on.. would you please avoid to use this thread of mine to further expand your already satisfactory visibility in this forum?
This would be greatly appreciated.. thank you.
Please remember The Feetosopher's N° 3 Golden Rule for social interaction.. "Don't let anyone pester your balls".. this is the FIRST AND LAST WARNING.

Signore,

Please take the following comments in a friendly spirit. As I remarked, you will receive no hostility from me. It will be my last on either of your two teaser threads, and then I will leave you in peace on them.

In response to any curiosity about my background in writing -I am an historian, whose published work is in the reference sections of university libraries. I would be professional if I had any need of an earned income. I am on this forum because I am interested in its subject.

1) Your hostile comment was portentous and prolix, in response to one consciously attempting to be friendly. It was also offensive; I take no offence because I can appreciate your anxiety, but others might not be so forgiving. If I, or any other newcomer, infringes unwritten rules in general conduct on this forum then could the Webmaster (not anyone self-appointed) intervene as a matter of routine, please?

2) As I've remarked, your photography is good enough to deserve wider artistic exposure. If you are worried about the impact of your hobby on your job, then I can vouch that modern galleries and publishers are very adept and experienced at protecting the identity of artists wishing to remain anonymous. The English graffiti artist Banksy is the best example of this. This forum is inadequate as your main advertisement location for your websites.

3) I strongly urge that you arrange with the Webmaster for your two teaser threads to be ring-fenced, so that only you (or those you specially invite) can post on them. I am surprised that you haven't already done this.

Addio!

1) My remark was meant to be neutral, not hostile.
If Paul and/or the admins are OK with you starting a minimum of 5 threads per day, I am OK with it.. it's them ruling over this forum.. not me.. and not you..
2) Again, thank you.. but I am going to retain the right to be totally uninterested in exposing in art galleries.. and to decide where to advertise my sites.
3) No fences needed.. I am perfectly able to defend my threads, as you have seen.
This said.. I will surely learn to survive without your comments to my threads.
Farewell!
