Some guy in New York uses a flashmob consisting of a lot of cute barefoot girls to propose to his girlfriend at the Venetian. Pretty cute but shame it's not better quality, and only a few not-too-dirty sole shots. Still, a lot of bare feet in one public place!

MariJean Wegert, an amazing lady! http://www.barefoot-running.us/blog/bare/soul-baring.html "Soul Baring by Editor on July 14, 2011 My name’s MJ. I have raced barefoot for four years. My freshman year of college, on a wet, green spring, I took off my shoes before the 800 meter, and I have run that way ever since. People always ask me, “but doesn’t that hurt?” Some say that taking off your shoes puts you closer to the earth; that it keeps you sensitive and alert. For me, it means that and more. It holds a mental and physical significance. Initially, it seemed exiting, daring, unique. But it was also a vulnerable act – both literally and figuratively. Taking off my shoes exposed my sole to anything sharp in the way. It made people talk. It pounded tender plantar arches and heels to the gravel and rocks and heat of the ground. But it also pulled my spine and hips into alignment – it forced my arches to stay strong and firm against the earth, it made my knees rise faster and my ankles spin more times a minute. Running barefoot has made me faster than ever. Yes, it hurts sometimes. It’s a risk. But it’s worth it. (...)" http://kgussports.blogspot.com/2009/08/fas...ss-country.html " Fast Feet Without Shoes: Cross Country Runner Runs Barefooted Mari Jean Wegert is a Junior runner on the Grace College Women's Cross Country and Track teams. She advanced to the NAIA Nationals in the 800 as a freshman, and her 3,200-meter relay team qualified to nationals during the indoor season last year. This is nothing out of the ordinary for top notch runners. There is one exception. She is doing it barefooted. "I don't know how to put into words why it's so much more fun," Wegert said of running barefooted. "I remember feeling miserable (with shoes). It felt a lot lighter without shoes. I like to be different -- it's fun to have a way to run that nobody else does," Wegert continued. (...) Marijean Wegert does have to be very careful to take care of her feet. "I have to run carefully and watch where I'm running," Wegert said. "The track does tear up your feet, and I'll limp around after a race. It wasn't too bad after a while, and I have a couple layers of callouses on my feet (now). Wegert also said that it was a gradual experience building up callouses and endurance. She says that form is important and that running barefooted actually helps her form. (...) to me, Marijean Wegert is one of the toughest athletes around. To be able to run barefoot at a high level on the track or through the woods takes guts. Some days the asphalt or concrete is very hot. When running through the woods in a Cross Country meet or in practice, she steps on sharp twigs or rocks, yet that doesn't deter her from having fast fet without shoes. Marijean Wegert is one tough student-athlete. (...)" -------------------- Regards

Wegert-Unorthodox, But the Best Ever “If you run without shoes, you have to be fast.” Former Grace head coach Neal Butler told senior MariJean Wegert those words two minutes before a track race at IUPUI her freshman year. She had asked Butler if she could run without shoes in the race, and considering the absurdity of the question, he didn’t know the answer. He scrambled around, discovered that it was legal and delivered the good news. “”MJ, you can run without shoes,” he said. Thus began her shoeless career. Wegert, in fact, may have been born to treat tracks and cross country courses as holy ground. During track practice her senior year of high school, she decided to try running barefoot, and to her surprise, she beat the best runner on the team, a girl that hadn’t been beaten all year. Then there was the time at Grace when she bought a pair of 3.8 ounce running shoes and immediately got mild tendonitis in her feet. Even at cross country courses clattered with roots and rocks, she’d rather trash the shoes. She says her “adrenaline” helps her fight through the pain. Whatever she does, it works. She holds seven records in the track record book, and according to head coach Jeff Raymond, is probably the best women’s cross country runner in Grace history. And the only one to do it barefoot. This story was published in the November 12 Homecoming Edition of Grace’s Student Newspaper, The Sounding Board. -------------------- Regards

I have a problem with this channel in that I barely speak any German. However Fletchthexe has taken up going barefoot through a German winter for health reasons and is reporting back quite regularly. Any translations / summaries would be greatly appreciated!
