After work today, I agreed to help my neighbor's friend sell some ice cream for her brother's football fundraiser. The plan was to drive up to some of the nearby farms on the quad and sell the heck out of that ice cream. When we tried to start the quad, however, we found it was out of gas. That meant we got to push it all the way to the garage so we could get some gas for it.

It was ridiculously difficult. You would not believe how much those things weigh, even without a passenger!

user posted image

It seriously probably took us about 20 minutes to move it 100 meters.

At long last, we got it to the shed. I dug around for a while and finally found the gas can with the right kind of gas. After dumping the thing full of fuel, we were on our way.

Because I'm a responsible adult, I made myself in charge of knocking on doors, on the off chance that the local farmers were total creepers that would hurt little kids. I mean, sure I've known these people since the day I was born, but you can never be too safe, right?

Our hard work paid off - we sold 11.5 litres of ice cream to our first customer! We raised a grand total of $70 for the football team from all our customers. Yay us!

We took a break and had dinner. Afterwards, we walked up to another nearby farm to see if they would like to buy some ice cream to support football. At some point, I must have stepped on a sticky bud, because little sharp pebbles kept getting stuck to my feet.

It was rather funny. Unfortunately, our walk was in vain. They had already headed to the community rodeo. We decided to go too.

Spur of the moment, I also decided to compete in one of the events. This is the horse I rode. She did NOT like me, but I made the best of it. It wasn't too bad, except for when she got a bit spooked and almost ran over one of the event coordinators.

Here's a vid:

Yes folks, you heard the man right. I'm riding in a rodeo barefoot.

I rock.

Nice job. I know who to call if I run out of gas wink.gif
I was the 1st one to watch your video.
Wish you had video of pushing the quad. So how long did walk around with the sticky bush in your foot? I know those things are sharp and hurt like hell. We got them around here. Opps, thought you ment sand burrs.

I don't know if I really should be the first on your list... It might take me a while to get there. I am in Canada, after all.

Awesome! I love hits on my videos.

I did have a short video of pushing the quad, but it was way too shaky and blurry to be of any use at all. I probably walked about 2km with that dang thing in my foot. I really only noticed it was there when things stuck to it though, so it wasn't too terrible.

Oh, I'd wait,,hehe
That's a cute shot of you in the shed holding the gas can,,

I saw the comment for "barefoot runner" I wonder how thick your callouses are even the they're not hard and cracked?

Haha, yes, for how dirt-encrusted and exhausted I was, that's actually a very flattering shot.

My callouses aren't actually very thick at all, compared to most other barefooters. I think if I was in the city more, they would be thicker, but since most of what I step on is organic, they never got thick like many barefooters' do.

That might be changing soon, though. My job transferred me to an urban location, so I'll be moving within the week.

OMG, they're taking the barefoot country girl out of the country and putting her the city.
Is that going to change your barefoot lifestyle?
Still going to do your daily run if it's in the city?
Plan on blacker feet and different obstackles.

It's horrible that they're doing it to me, I know, but they're going to help me finally get certified as a chef, so I guess it almost makes up for it.

I still plan of going barefoot everywhere I legally can, and also in some places I legally can't. I'm going to live in a suburb with lots of nature trails. I've visited a few times, and went barefoot the whole time I was there (except for at job interviews), so I'm certainly going to continue my barefoot lifestyle when I permanently move there.

The nature trails will make my runs easy to accomplish, but I will miss the smell of wet dirt after a good rain. It's going to take me a bit to map out my exact daily route, but after I figure that out I will definitely continue to run.

I'm looking forward to the blacker feet and welcome the new and different obstacles.

Excellant, wish you the best.
Sounds like it will be business as usual except for the geographical change.
Hope you have fun with black foot concept. Can't wait to see those.
Obstackles: probly less gravel, least as road surfaces, more broken glass around city streets and harder less forgiving pavement than dirty and mud.
Iam 100% confident you'll adapt and excell.

So, what is the next dare you have scheduled?

Suggestion: get a tripod for your video recorder so you can do nice close ups even if your photographer challenged.

Looking forward to seeing show off you feet in your new neighbourhood!

I've lived in a city before, when I went to university, and I ran around barefoot all the time there, so this shouldn't be too difficult of a change.

The next dare I have scheduled is walking around in a public setting, on main street, in the post office, etc.

And bemused, I do have a facebook page, but I feel more comfortable with people just 'like'-ing my fan page. The link is at the bottom of the original post and in my signature.

I have not had the opportunity to see it yet, but I'll look it up and let you know what I think.

I will for sure get pictures of any black soles I happen to get. Or any even remotely dirty ones, for that matter.

I can't find words which would describe how fantastic You are!! My God, You are so inspirating, I dream that when You leave to the city, many girls will follow Your example and go barefoot through the city too smile.gif And please, don't ever change, You are incredible original and natural smile.gif
Keep your feet bare always biggrin.gif

That would be great if other girls saw my example and walked barefoot like me! I would warn them not to start this late in the fall, though. Unless your feet are accustomed to being barefoot, the cold can seriously damage them. My roommate last year tried to walk barefoot in the snow with me and ended up getting pretty bad frostbite. I definitely recommend waiting until spring, unless you are in a warmer climate.

Yes, indeed, an experience is very important thing - I bet that Your feet have could tell us a large number of interesting stories biggrin.gif So, I've got a question - how many winters have you went through barefoot? And how often were You forced to put shoes on?
