Totally amazed no-one has written about the new programme on BBC 1 called Love Nina which was first aired on Friday.

It centres on a young nanny in London and is set in 1983 - a time, I remember when there seemed to be lots of barefoot girls around.

Anyway, the main character is almost always barefoot and we see many shots of her feet as the programme makers make a big deal out of it.

Those of you not in the UK can try to access it on iPlayer.

Hopefully, those of us outside the UK will eventually get to see "Love, Nina" one way or another.

We have a local channel that shows British programs. Hopefully, they'll pick it up.

Hopefully they'll show this where I live. Typically only popular British shows come here but sometimes a year or two later. But with streaming TV we are getting more and more British shows.

That's a very interesting article and I am glad that this is becoming more popular. More and more girls should consider walking around barefoot in public places. Would be so wonderful

Also, once the female celebrities follow this trend, many other girls would try to do the same.

I really doubt it works this way...we noticed, even on popular press, lots of pics of occasional barefoot celebrities throughout the latest years, i.e. Kate Moss, but the trend hasn't changed. The reality is that we would need a cultural revolution, like the one dated back to the sixties or the seventies, after the hippie movement exploded, to see again lots of barefoot women/girls, on the streets. I don't think some reports can produce miracles.

The reports can make an impact after they become really popular. After they are discussed more often. They certainly can and I am positive about it.

There is a difference between reports of celebrities on red carpet vs a character (loosely based on reality) who people can easily relate to. I actually think this show will have some positive effect towards broadening attitudes, especially if it becomes very popular.

My modest opinion is that the barefoot lifestyle will NEVER become mainstream.. and personally I love it to be a peculiarity of few women who dare to be out of the pack. If every woman around me was barefoot, I'd probably get bored about it.
I don't see significant "risks" that female barefooting becomes widespread, anyway.. and this simply because there is big money behind fashionable shoes and foot-focused cosmetics.
Barefoot lifestyle moves little (if any) money.. just the small revenues that I, Hal, Arnaud and Paul get from our operations.
The most powerful messages always lead people where big business wants.. not the other way round.
