This is a old photo sicovered on an italian site.

There are 2 women,a girls and a older woman working in a mine in Sardenia,an italian (my country) island.
And the girls int the left is barefeet !

The article of the site is taken from the book "Women and girls in Montevecchio's mine",writed by Iride Peis Concas.
The book report that at the beginning of the 1900,when this photo was taken,there were many women working in this mine,with the task to clean and separate the "galena" (a mix of lead and silver) from the rocks extract in the underground by man.

All these women/girls worked with bare hand,and most of them,also barefeet,for 10 hour at day,all the day,carrying loads of 20/30 Kg barefeet over the mines very sharp rocks,and they
could not flinch,because flinching caused the reversal of the load.

The author,that knew some of these girls,say that their soles were completely covered of callous,as tough and hard as the leather of soldier boot !

Beautiful picture ... Even if it is a poor girl, working in bad conditions. My hard miles of it, how do I is miles of so many billions of girls who live and work in poverty, on this Earth...
