Thanks for sharing. This reminds me of my vacation in Thailand about 15 years ago: The house keeping ladies in the hotel would all walk around barefoot and have nice dirty soles. Fond memories

A number of years ago I stayed in a hotel (Holiday Inn, I think) in Aruba. As I was leaving the room to have breakfast (barefoot, of course) the maid came in and she was working barefoot! I lifted up my bare foot and said "We like the same shoes!". She just smiled and I went on my way.
Her soles weren't very dirty but they did look toughened. Not many locals walked barefoot in Aruba despite the warm weather.
