Here some other old photos of real rice cleaner/harvester.
I precise that are not my photos but I found them on the web. Obviously are b/w and low quality, but is enough to see them and her leathered soles. If someone have other photos of this type ,not necessarily rice cleaner, and wanted to share them, would be very appreciated and thanked. I will ask to my grandmother if she have some one,but will be difficult to remember where are placed now |

Great finds under the barefooting aspect.
About the social point of view, well, I'm not among the ones convinced that "shoes are a progress". Not at all. My girlfriend is the living proof that "them more you're able to live barefoot, the more happy you are", or at least it can HELP happiness (for sure). But ... the girls working barefoot at the grinder ... I think over the current italian "626" (the law on safety at work) and I smile, wondering where the "exageration" is, on which side. F. |

I hope to find more, maybe about old people living near me,my grandmother was rice cleaner for some years, when young,my great grandmother for half of his life...
Now you have to wear safety shoes, the woman of the photo have safety soles : a thick and hard callous, like the shoes :D ,but I do not know about the upper part of the feet
The only shoes not,but at the time of this photos they had big poverty problems, now not more, and the progress is not just one thing but a combination of things. |
