Do any of you ever see barefooted shopgirls, while shopping? I used to see this quite a lot in the 1980's. Not as much these days, but I still occasionally see it.

I once met a girl (Trish) in the Port Authority bus terminal in NYC. She was barefoot with a girlfriend and the friend's boyfriend. Her friend was also barefoot, but with clean feet. Trish told me she didn't even have any shoes to wear if she wanted to and she worked in a small clothing store in the Village barefoot. She said the owner was very understanding.
I saw a girl working in a 7-11 barefoot. She was sweeping the floor and had fairly dirty feet. I also saw a girl working in a Strawberry's record store barefoot. Her feet were mostly clean but I did see some callouses. I also saw a cashier in a Caldor with her flip flops stuffed to the side. Not common at all to see any barefooters anymore, workers or customers |
