so i saw that The Dead were playing near me, and it happened to be a very warm day yesterday. so I figured let me do a little trolling through the parking lot to get a glimpse of some dirty hippy girls walking around barefoot. Much to my dismay, there were practically none! I didn't stay very long, but a few laps around where all the hippies camp out and also around the arena and not 1 sighting. I remember doing this years ago and seeing multitudes of girls not just hanging out in the parking lot barefoot, but walking right into the arena or stadium totally barefoot.
I miss the old days!

Sadly, the old days are gone... modern "hippy" girls don't go barefoot anymore...

At least you enjoyed the old days... here in my part of the world, as far as I know, not even hippy girls back in that era went barefoot...

But, at least, there's a hope... Hal's city in Germany is full of true summer barefooter girls, and they have the soles to prove it.

I think it would be nice if Hal could provide us with more information about those true barefooter girls he's met... why they go barefoot, how often, to what places, how tough their soles are, how they manage the people's comments and reactions, etc.

And in my country (Romania), more 90 % of young people don`t like to walking barefoot. Why all this young people love shoes all time of the year, i don`t know. Sometimes i think that i am the single man on this country with this "hobby": the barefootisme. I like to go barefoot anywhere and anytime. But i like more in parks, to rhe seaside, or to mountain. In my city (Bucharest), the streets are more dirty and => my soles become dirty after... 200 - 300 m. But i love these smile.gif.
To more barefoot km !

PS - "descult" (romanian language)= "barefoot".

Dead shows were the BEST places to meet barefoot hippie girls with tough, black feet! I remember meeting two girls at a show in the Meadowlands. One, Kelly, had soles that were like rocks and filthy all over. We massaged each other's feet and had a small pile of dirt on the floor from what we rubbed off each other's soles. Another, Olga, had dirty but very soft soles. We did a foot 69 massage for about 15 minutes. It was a great time, but now if you see someone barefoot, she probably slipped off sandals or flip flops while on a blanket in the grass in the park :-(

I saw the Dead in Pittsgurgh probably 15 years ago and there were hundreds of true barefoot girls there that looked like they had not had shoes on the whole summer. Their feet looked like they had not been washed all summer also. Dead shows were a barefoot lovers dream. I really miss those days also.

Last summer I went to a Jimmy Buffett show outside DC. There were scores of barefoot girls---I could tell from their feet that they were not the "kick off the flip flops on the blanket" types, either. They came to the show barefoot.

Maybe Buffett has hijacked the Dead crowd?
