Even if we might not like it, English is now what Latin used to be not so long ago... some of an international language, spoken everywhere.

In this spirit... could it be possible to have some of the girls in the videos speaking some English? The clips are rich in dialog, but, alas! Most of us don't speak the beautiful Russian language and lose all of that. It would be wonderful to listen, from the lips of the girls themselves, their experiences, their feelings, how they feel walking barefoot in the street, on rough pavement, on places full of people...

If I'm not mistaken, some older clips from the Barefoot Travel series feature English dialogue. Having said that, I quite like how the dyevushki speak in Russian ;-)

I s'pose a compromise might be reached if a transcript was included, or some unobtrusive subtitles.

I also support Ted's motion of making a Barefoot Travel set in the U.K. and the use of older models.

Unobtrusive titles would work great, but they must be really unobtrusive... can you imagine the titles covering our girl's feet? :-)

Most of my girls can't speak English, so there are two possibilities:

1. Subtitles.
They will hide most interesting parts of video sometimes. And making subtitles is too complicated, especially when several girls speak at the same time. They speak faster than you can read subtitles

2. Comments in travel description.
I can make a general description of what the girls are speaking about, and include it in update text.

In most cases girls speak about everyday things, such as buying food, tickets or planning where they will go. Sometimes they just prattle about nothing, and, beleive me, this is untranslatable They don't tend to pay attention that they are barefoot, and I don't know, is it bad or good for you. As for me, this is good, because it shows barefooting is usual thing for them.

Thanks for the info. Maybe, if possible, from time to time you could ask your girls about how they feel by being barefoot in the street, in public. Or how it feels to walk on hot pavement, on broken cement, on snow, etc. and they could answer those specific questions and make some specific comments. Those would be the things I think most of us would like to be translated, whether with subtitles or with comments.

The idea is to get, first hand (well, "first foot" :-) what the girls experience, how they feel by being barefoot outdoors, in the street, in public and on different surfaces.

Also, there are mant pictures where the gitls are clearly getting a reaction from passers by and I think it would be great to hear whats been said. Where passers by pose with the girls etc. I think its Aleyna who actually holds up her feet to the shop assistant in one of her snow series - and there is an older couple who seem astonished to see bare feet in such freezing conditions - this would be very intersting to have translated!

yeah maybe just a spoken comment coming sometimes about the situation? told if possible by a female voice ... not on every clip, but from time to time it can be hot to have image + voice
hearing a girl talking about barefoting is so exciting too
