Go barefoot yourself! It really can work, especially since women like mutuality. And if you can't pluck up the courage to start locally, go on a romantic break in a beautiful city during hot weather, and explore barefoot together. There are lots of cities to choose in Europe -the Feetosopher's Mantua joins the list with (e.g.) Oxford, Carcassonne, Bruges, Cracow, Weimar, Novgorod or Trnovo.

When I was studying in Oxford, one of my fellow barefooters had the wealth, looks and charisma to attract two girl companions, and the three of them would be 24/7 barefoot in the city in summer. The girls had very healthy feet (so did he), and always had perfect pedicures with red nails. One was a sultry brunette whose feet were amazingly sweaty. They had a sheen to them, as if carved in polished marble, and I was fascinated as to how the dirt sprayed up through the gaps between her big and second toes, and left a pair of fan-shaped shadows on her insteps.
