Sometimes when I watch the videos I get a little dizzy following the barefoot woman on TV. I know cameras have stabilizers but maybe new and creative filming techniques will be something interesting to try.
For instance maybe the camera rigged on a rolling backpack (backpack with wheels). Not only will you have a steady unmoving view following a woman, but the camera can be adjusted to different heights. So you could have the camera really low and close to dirty soles as they lift up during walking. That would make for great footage. I like how you place the camera on the floor and models walk toward it and over it. Then you switch the camera direction and they walk away from it. Perhaps some variation on that would be great. You could have a whole video of static cameras - and they can be placed at different angles so that the model does not necessarilly walks towards the camera. As the model moves away, you can move to another location and sort of tell a story of barefooting that way. Also after the walk the soles are propped up on something to reveal the dirty soles - perhaps a tripod at this point. Holding the camera gives a more "reality" feel but when you see soles from tripod(or placed on a table) as opposed to holding a camera manually - the detail becomes so crisp. I have noticed this from other videos on youtube. You have great videos and just want to see more "art" in the making. Thanks! |

Thank you jwdf88, your thoughts are interesting! May be it would be usefull to mount camera on scateboard and move it behind (or in front of, or at side of) walking girl.
Do you have links to descriptions or photos of devices as you offer? |

Thanks for your considerations on this. At this time I do not have any specifics as I have not tried this myself. I actually saw a youtube video in the past of a girl walking barefoot in walmart - she was pulling the camera herself and it rolled on something. The movement was so crisp since those floors in those stores are smooth tiles (but dirty and perfect for the "ground in" polished dirty sole look). It would probably work OK on a street too. Unfortunately that video is no longer on youtube.
I was thinking of using duct tape to put a camera on this: The skateboard was probably a better idea because it is flat. You would need a way to push it though without stooping over so maybe this would be good: Once again some duct tape might do the trick. Hope to see this soon and keep up the great work! |

YES!! YES!! Thanks for locating that for me. It was on youtube and I tried to find it again - so I thought it was lost forever. This is a great video - the only thing is that it fast forwarded in high speed. If it wasn't it would be perfect.
So City-Feet and Hal - I would love to see some of this in your upcoming videos! Not the whole video of course as an entire video of just this would be boring -we need to see the models' faces. But some cut scenes with this would be perfect. The girl could pull the backpack. It would also be good if the camera guy sometimes pushed the backpack from behind at a distance. That way you can see the whole girl. I love how the camera just glides. Even though the video is fast forwarded, you do not have that camera shake. I am sure that at a normal speed the gliding would be perfect. And don't you just love how she presents her soles in the beginning. Clean and pink. You can see the soles get dirtier and dirtier with each step. Finally she presents her jet black soles to the camera. |

The camerama probably just put the camera into the bottom of the trolley while shopping. That is a good idea.
I actually just bought a new tripod for my camera...it is like no tripod I have ever seen or used before...it is for outdoor videos and you can place the camera onto unusual places...like onto a branch of a tree or also onto the ground. I will start using it next spring....and also hopefully start filming in HD by then. Cheers, -Hal- -------------------- More beautiful bare feet at Toes-in-Action.com
