Hi guys and Paul,
There has been a hacker attack with SPAM posts being posted in the forum every minute! I deleted them all but it did not help --- every single post was created by a different (newly registered) user. So it was impossible to ban a user because after about 30 seconds a new user would pop up and post some spam-rubbish. Obviously these are not real human beings but bots/scripts/progammes that are infiltrating the forum. @Paul: I have edited the security functions in the forum, so no new members can join at the moment. I hope this helps. If you have a better idea please let me know. Cheers, -Hal- -------------------- More beautiful bare feet at Toes-in-Action.com

@Paul: There is also an admin-validation function in the forum for new members. Maybe we could use that? The safest option would be if new users contact us personally and then we add them to the forum by hand. Is there a function like that in the forum?

Hello Hal!
Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, this forum doesn't have the option for approving new users by moderators. May be using a better captcha could help. Tomorrow I'll try to turn on the new users registration and we'll see if the spam attack appears again. |
