It's great to know that Silvia really got into her character. I thought she was very believable as a barefooter in the film, so it makes sense that she would have practiced barefooting off-camera. I don't think it would have been possible to pull off many of the barefoot scenes if she was just taking her shoes off right before the camera rolled.

Hi guys!

Today I watched this excellent movie, here's my review:

Soledad Descalza / Barefoot Soledad

Is there anything dangerous in a woman who wears no shoes? Is she a menace to society, a danger to people?

Soledad Descalza (Barefoot Soledad, and which can also be translated as Barefoot Solitude or Barefoot Loneliness) is a movie in a mockumentary format about Soledad Paramo, a woman who lives barefoot, a true 24/7/365 barefooter from Spain.

Soledad always loved to walk barefoot on holidays, and one day, out of the blue, decides not to wear shoes ever again.

The movie is the story of her life during a whole year. Soledad harms no one, she seeks no fame, she is a normal woman who just happens not to wear shoes, to live her life, to be comfortable, to be herself. The movie shows the behaviour of our society, how it reacts against someone who just happens to be different. Soledad is not dangerous, she harms no one, she is not mesianic, she doesn't want neither to set a trend nor to become an example to follow. But she is different, and this leads to all kind of situations from people who is openly against her, from the few ones who truly support her, from those who imitate her.

The movie is a good one, trust me. All the actors perform in a credible way, which makes you think you're actually watching a real documentary. The filming maitains a good rhythm from the beginning to the end. The camera work is outstanding. Silvia Conesa does a remakable work and demonstrate us the great actress she is. She puts herself inside the skin of her character. She IS Soledad Paramo, to the point that the soles of her feet are those of a true barefooter: hard, rough, calloused...healthy and beautiful. All the other actors and actresses perform an excellent work that rounds the movie and creates a real experience that surrounds the viewer who wants to know what will happen next.

This is a movie that makes us think about our society and what has happened to us, why a convention can become more important than a person, than a human being, than a good woman who just wants to live her life and who asks nothing but respect and love from her fellows.

Watch "Soledad Descalza", you won't regret it. You can rent it on Vimeo for just $3, but it's worth much more.

Congratulations to Juan Carlos Martinez, to Silvia Conesa and to all the team who made this movie, this wonderful project true.

The movie is available on Vimeo:

Hi Hal!

Yes, it is a very good movie! It exceeded my expectations, actually it's a movie everyone can see. And for those of us who appreciate the special beauty of a barefoot girl...well, there's a scene where two girls check the soles of the other, assess it to see how tough it is smile.gif
