She is self-employed, so she doesn't have to worry about that.

We live in Alabama, and the climate is hot and humid in the summer, and temperate in the winter. She's a little afraid of the winter, actually, but I'm sure she'll be fine.

I, for one, am really excited to see her all bundled up in a heavy coat and gloves, but bare feet!

I don't like completely soiled feet. I prefer soles soiled like this:

So, please, post a corresponding photo of your wife's soles.
I also like dusty soles.

Sorry for the shitty cell-phone pics, but DSLRs draw a lot of attention in restaurants.

Try a Sony NEX, there are several models.These are small and have tilting lcd screens which means the camera can be used from a variety of deceptive angles. If you use a pancake lens , you have a very discreet camera.

The Sony NEX is on my list! I've wanted one since they came out. I know a lot of photographers have stopped using the bigger DSLRs like the Canon 5-Ds in favor of them. There are also some nice micro 4/3rds I'm considering.

The quality of these photos is not so bad as you consider. Pictures taken by my cellphone are not better than yours, but I do not worry about it. I see no sense in photos larger than 3 Mpix.

You gave no answer about her shoe size. Is it about 7US/37.5EU ?

Do her feet feel cold on cold tile floor in grocery stores? I guess that such floor is very cold, especially
near refrigerators. Can your wife stand on it during a long time?

It is a pity that your wife has not made her feet dirty, but please post a close-up photo of her feet immediately after walk. I am interesting how her tender skin looks after long day.

Get NEX, micro 4\3rds has a smaller sensor where as NEX has a DSLR -APS-C size sensor, the main reason I recommend the NEX is the tilting LCD which is important when you don't want everyone to know you are taking a picture.

Cool, another epic barefoot day of the dazzling Diminished Harmony (so is her name indeed Cleo? so nice name of a so nice girl).

Why should anyone oblige anybody to wear shoes (maybe if in work, though being self-employed, no boss should be harassing her)?

So going for a tinier cam with still so whopping resolution as your initial current one so that you would be able to take stunning pics in a more discreet way?
Nevertheless, though not as huge as the actual cam, but still, your phone can take good pictures, my eternal complaint is just about the "I Don't Wear Shoes"' server killing the quality so dramatically, even the shots via your Canon, per example the " Summer Street Fair" shots, are super reduced to a mere 1.5 MP instead of the actual 15 MP (even if you had to go down to 10 or 12 MP due to having to zoom-in, still way way better than the poor 1.5 MP).
This is the reason I keep asking you to keep posting the images in Flickr too.

Go figure, even in some pay-sites, to save web-space, they kill the quality, per example Southern-Charms I got a membership in it for while few years ago (on top of that, they somehow rip up off, no matter if my credit cart is in $, the membership is 15 $ which is 22 500 L.L., instead of simply immediately directly billing me 15 $, they charged me 24 000 L.L. which is 16 $, which lead to "stealing" 1 $).
