With reference to what Hal said.. yeah, I can confirm that weather is the only significant drawback of Bremen and Northern Germany in general.. it can be a nightmare even in the midst of summer!

I recently caught sight of an attractive mid-20s aged woman walking barefoot in a crowded, urban area where it was just above freezing temperature outside. She had on a hooded coat and was dressed nicely, was texting on her phone but I didn't see any shoes. I actually thought that she was wearing pink flats as I got close to her but then I noticed she was totally barefoot. No idea what was going on but it was interesting to see.

Also, I have a memory from college of a woman who at the beginning of spring, would come to class barefoot, with no shoes at all. She lived a ways off campus and would ride the city bus, wore long flowy skirts and dresses. I remember a group of us met in a coffee house one day to discuss our class work and she was sitting in a lounge chair having her feet rubbed by a guy who was certainly into her being barefoot. Honestly I found this persons actions to be a bit uncalled for in a public setting with a stranger, but she seemed to be enjoying it. She also definitely had a crush on me and I regret not taking advantage of it, but I think I was not yet totally aware of how attractive I thought it was that she was going around barefoot.
