So how is summer in your part of the world this year? Here in Northern Germany it totally sucks! Worst and coldest weather I have ever experienced in April/May/June so far. I have seen some barefoot girls and have also taken photos of new tough barefoot ladies, but it has been far less than in the last years. I hope it becomes hot soon and stops raining

Even with the bad weather in Germany, I'm sure you get more barefoot girls than we do in the USA.

2 Saturdays ago, I was wandering around a street fair, and to my delight, saw a barefoot hippie girl selling handmade jewelry. She not only had no shoes on, she had no shoes with her. I talked to her a little bit and asked where her shoes were, and she said "they broke". She was cute and young (probably about 20) and the soles of her feet were dark gray (would have liked pitch black soles, but whatever).

Went back to the same street fair this past Saturday and the same hippie girl was there....wearing boots. I later saw another girl carrying shoes (and she had dirty soles), but then put them back on before long.

That's the US for you: girls occasionally carrying shoes, and hippies girls that may be daring enough to go barefoot just once. That's why it's so amazing to me that you can find girls like Katja and Celeste and Fee who go barefoot all the time.

^ I'm sorry, man! Do you think it is like this everywhere in the USA or only in your part of the country? Maybe things are different in other cities?
Well, I guess seeing a barefoot girl carrying her shoes is still better than nothing, right?

The city I live in is obviously awesome for spotting real barefoot girls, as are most large cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, etc. -- but I know that there are also conservative places in Germany where it is almost impossible to see any girls out on the streets without shoes.

Well, New York isn't really the kind of place that attracts the hippies and the like. It's a pretty uptight culture in a lot of ways. Add in the hot summers (brutal today) and cold winters, and it's really not a place where the climate is good for bare feet more than a few months of the year.

In the US, you either need to go to college towns to find free spirit barefoot girls, or the west coast, where it never gets too hot or too cold in places like San Francisco or Portland. Ever there, however, it's probably nothing like Germany. I've been out west a number of times, but haven't seen more than a few barefoot girls. I need to get to Berlin in the summer and see what that's like.

There are very few if any barefoot girls here in New England, similarly, unless it is a college town. Heck, I've lived close to neighborhoods that are next to a beach and people there still all wore shoes most of the time

I really like the photoshot of the soles propped on the table Hal. The place I have seen the most barefooters is California. Malibu for instance is a beautiful area. I would say that it is one of the narrowest towns I have seen. You have the beach to the west and immediately mountains to the east. There is usually just a main road that snakes all the way through. I saw three girls walk from the beach across the main road and into a shopping plaza. All stores are across the road because the area is so narrow. Then they went into a supermarket barefoot - not a beach store or grocer - a real supermarket that the townspeople goto. The girls seemed to know the workers well and were chatting. It was laid back atmosphere because one girl was still just wearing her bikini. Later they walked into a starbucks that was in the same plaza. None were ever carrying any shoes.
