Have any of you ever seen barefoot girls working in stores? I've seen this several times! Here are some of my fonder memories:
*A friend of mine used to own a record store. His wife was often there, and she went around the store barefooted quite a lot. I even took a few photos of her barefoot in the store!
*I became friends with a girl who owned a used book store. I came in the store one day, and she was barefooted!
*I saw a barefoot girl behind the counter of an office supply store, once. I actually told her she looked cute barefooted, and she really appreciated that compliment!
^I especially remember frequently seeing barefoot shopgirls in the late 70's/early 80's. Not so much these days, sadly.

I went into a Strawberry's (a now defunct record store in CT) and there was a girl worker who was barefoot. She was talking to another girl about the store manager allowing her to work barefoot but the regional manager wasn't too happy about it. I, of course, was barefoot too.
I met a girl in NYC (Trish) who said she worked barefoot in a small clothing store in Greenwich Village (NYC) and the owners were very understanding about it. She told me she didn't even own any shoes to wear if she wanted to. She was from Fairfield, CT.
I once saw a young woman working in a 7-11 barefoot, sweeping the floor. Her feet were dirty. Maybe her name was Sweeping Beauty? :-)

Barefoot Guy and dougiezerts, hang on to those pleasant memories,, as I fear, in corporate America, that they're a vestige of a more forgiving, laid back and unpretentious past. Being barefoot in public, in this shitty, uptight society today, is a sin. Oh, you can walk around with your pants down to your knees, with your underwear and your dirty butt crack showing, but God forbid you should have no shoes on.

Another time, I recall going into the gift shop at National Geographic's museum/headquarters. The girl there was shoeless in her stockings! (I know a lot of you don't like stockings on feet, but I do.) This was back in the early 80's.
And now, I'm recalling buying something at the old Ames Department store back in the 80's. The sales clerk was an Indian girl, and as I was leaving, I noticed that her feet were bare, under her long paints!
