You see a barefoot girl getting harassed by a store manager--"Either put some shoes on, or leave my store at once!" Would you try to help her? |

Has this actually happened already? |

No. Well, I remember once I was in high school, and a teacher ordered two girls to put their shoes back on! |

Yes, I would come to her aid, like I've done before BTW,..it happened in a Dollar General store...the young lady was ahead of me in line and the "lady" at the cash register had spied her in the store with no shoes on, but waited until she was getting in line to pay for her stuff..I guessed that she was trying to embarrass her or something. The little lady, a pretty, petite girl with brown curly hair and wearing a tank top w/shorts, meekly protested that why couldn't she just pay and leave, ...reasonable enough right? But noooo, she was told to put her stuff back and leave real rude like. I said "come on, let her pay, or I'll put my stuff back too, and you'll lose two customers". The woman was a real hard ass and so both the young lady and myself just put our stuff back...and not where they originally were located and left the store. The girl thanked me and remarked something about her money being just as good as it was if she were wearing shoes...and then went to a car where there were two older women waiting for her. The girl may not have been 18...so that was that, but really it was the principle of the thing! I bloody well HATE stores and store keepers who have that kind of policy and attitude. I mean, rudeness to a paying customer shouldn't be tolerated, and screw whether or not a customer has shoes on..believe me, things weren't always as uncool as that. I just decided that I would never darken their doorstep again,...and I don't care how cheap their prices are. I'll be a white knight for a barefoot girl anytime,...and that's MY policy, dammit. |

Yeah, this takes me back to high school! A pretty girl in one of my classes decided she'd wear some barefoot sandals one day. It was the first class of the day and she sat near the back of the class with her friends teasing her about having dirty bare feet. She finally got up to get the hall pass, and when she did, the teacher, a pretty cool one at that merely asked her if her footwear had bottoms to them, and the girl exposed her soles, one at a time to the teacher, and as luck would have it, to all of us in the class too. She went wherever she went down those dirty school corridors and came back and sat down. One of her friends asked her something and the girl held up her foot to show even blacker soles this time. Believe me, this made concentrating on the classwork VERY difficult. But I marvelled at her courage, walking down the halls like that, and going from class to class...you just knew that there were some mean, hard assed teachers there who would write her up in nothing flat, and escort her to the office, where she would probably be given an option of having someone from home bring her shoes with soles, or more than likely, they sent her home for the day. Damn, but she was pretty, with a killer figure and a pretty dress on too. Would have loved to have gone home with her and at the very least....(!) given her a foot massage before moving on to other things. |

Great story! I wonder: Does that woman secretly take her shoes off, behind the counter? |

I wouldn't be surprised. I'm revolted at how quickly, and with attitude, the store keepers accost a person without shoes. Man, I remember years ago, especially when I lived at the beaches, when girls went in these stores barefoot with abandon...like it was the most normal thing...and even in "town, it was no big thing at all...happened all the time. It's this damned litigious society that we're so unfortunate to live in today that makes it such a damned drag. That evil sign on the door..."shoes required" makes me very angry. It sure has reduced the fun of shopping nowadays. I'm hoping for some civil disobedience...a revolt to happen. I strategically pick my battles and go in quite a few places barefoot...not to flaunt it or anything, but I'm testing the waters, lets say. |

I'm just remembering another little incident: My dad took me to a spot in the North Carolina mountains. I think it was a national forest. Anyway, we were going to hike on a short trail, there. As we were leaving, we saw a barefoot woman--in her 20's, I think--walk to her car. She was complaining that the rangers didn't allow her to hike on the trail because she was barefooted! |

Sheer totalitarian Big Brother bullshit....it's getting worse and worse as time goes by. This is what I despise about an over-controlling government. We all lose as a result of it. It starts off innocuously enough with a little rule here, and a rule there, an then once the camel gets his nose under the tent, there's no stopping the heavy-handed intrusion of big government. |
