When I was young, about 10 y.o., I remember that, when the Summer arrived, my neighbour (a 10 y.o. girl) loved to play all day long outside home, in the street. Jumping the rope, hide and seek, running....whatever. The interesting fact was that, all the time, she was barefoot. It was funny to see her carrying her sneakers on her hand instead that wearing them. But, the most interesting thing is that she was barefoot on the extremely hot, rough pavement...without even a blink!

I still wonder how she could manage the boiling hot surface of the street... I guess her soles were tough and leathery, but never tried to touch or examine them.

Regards

DG
