Anyone had any good sightings in the UK this year? I was in Brighton last week and saw a couple of girls by the beach holding their shoes.

I also saw a girl in London yesterday holding her heels but unfortunately she was wearing black tights. I'm worried we're going to be in for a bit of a barefoot drought this year.

I'm so jealous of the European countries where it seems a lot more popular! Anyone got any good recommendations for sightings in the UK?!

I've had two this years so far.

1. at the Excel back in April during that warm weekend we had - well actually she was just outside the Excel with no shoes in hand and was in some sort of uniform so my guess is she was taking a break from duties at one of the exhibitions

2. Traveller girl getting out of a car just opposite where I live: a car she'd clearly been driving barefoot. Sadly I was driving too o I couldn't stop to see where she went.

As far as advice goes, as I've said many times before, the best time to see barefoot girls is after the pubs close on Friday and Saturday nights.

Oh by the way too, I've noted that the bassist in the Japanese girl band Otoboke Beaver always plays barefoot. The great thing is none of the other band members do, making her stand out. I missed seeing them in London recently but keep an eye out for them as they're clearly on tour.

Finally, hope to see many more real life shoots on CF this summer rather than the posed stuff which leaves me a bit cold, as regular readers will know.

Traveler girl as in tinker or Irish Gypsy, would love to see those girls barefoot as it's a natural part of their lives, They also have a unique ethereal beauty that's found no where else ,pale green or blue eyes with reddish brown hair and fair but dark skin with light freckles. They seem from another time and place.. Yes traveler girls please ! They seem to only exist in the U.K and perhaps in some Celtic parts of France like Brittany However the French Celts don't seem as wildor beautiful as the ones from the U.K. There feet are incredibly special as they have been barefoot for most their lives as many Gypsies and Tinkers are.

That said I fancy pikey girls as much as the next man. You can see lots of them if you search YouTube for Appleby fair.

What's so good is that only one of them is barefoot: again, less is more which is something I've been preaching - not always successfully - through these pages for years.

Come to think of it, there must be some Romany-looking girls in Moscow Paul could get to do a shoot. Bit of fake tan and an orange track suit and we could be well away. Hire three girls for the shoot and make one of them - ONE of them go barefoot. Nice.

Saw a girl in Bristol (pretty good for barefoot sightings!), dressed in office wear, waiting on a traffic island, shoes in hand, and was standing in such a way you could properly see her soles. They were pretty dirty, not black, but with more a light brown colour. Was in the car at the time so couldnt stop, gutted!

Fellas, I've discovered a great source of barefoot girl sightings.

I was at a white collar boxing event last Saturday with a strict dress code so all the girls were in their heels and best frocks.

Having to stand up for hours though, meant that within minutes girls had discarded their shoes. This got better as the night went on with more alcohol freeing up inhibitions as feet got more painful.

Girls were barefoot outside in the smoking area standing amongst cigarette butts and crushed plastic glasses. Inside there were drinks spillages through which girls would walk and plenty of barefoot visits to the ladies' loo - always a turn on.

The woman I was with - understanding my specialist tastes - discarded her shoes early and in fact abandoned them at the venue to walk the half hour home through the dusty city streets totally barefoot.

A TOP night out guv'nor.

Get yourselves along to these white collar boxing events - there's loads of them in all parts of the country.

Might well be available in other countries too?

Great to see you're still around - about 10 years ago your photos on Flickr were THE. SHIZ.

Do you see many barefoot girls around London these days? They all seem to live in fucking Vans or converse these days. Bouncers also seem to be more relaxed about sport shoes these days, so I hardly see any women with heels they're going to take off later.

Maybe that's just the north though. It's relatively chilly up here. Indeed, it's been 6 years since I last saw a girl in a club WITHOUT shoes in sight - i.e conscienciously left her place of residence barefoot, without taking shoes - and she had THE filthiest feet I have ever seen! A truly wonderful night.

I saw a sign in one of the photos and it is in sidmouth, england. I checked it out on google maps and many of the beachgoing women ventured deep into the town barefoot.
It makes me want to visit England this summer.
Any of you UK folks ever been there? Go there before the summer ends! And bring your camera!

Please do! I live in New York City and it's very rare to see barefoot girls in public here, so I have to live vicariously through other people's sightings.

Well, jwdf88 I'd wait a couple of weeks if you're planning a trip to Sidmouth - or anywhere else in the UK - since the weather here right now is more like April - cold, wet and windy and unlikely to bring out the barefoot girls in any numbers.
That said, I went to Newquay once and despite the cool, wet weather there were a good few barefoot girls to be seen. I think it's the coastal way of life that means they just continue barefoot whatever.
I'd wager a white collar boxing event in a coastal town is a good bet for barefoot girls.
In fact my WCB adventure was in a coastal town (see post above) and that was a treat and a half.

Seen plenty in London this summer. All late night sightings around bars and clubs in Camden, Shoreditch, Brixton, and similar areas.

The best weekend was Gay Pride weekend in Camden. It was a really warm night and at around 4AM it seemed like every girl in the area was barefoot. I sat for 45 minutes outside a falafel shop admiring the scores of absolutely stunning black soled girls hanging around taking with friends or getting takeaways.

I was also in Valencia for a week in July and met three young students who 'hated shoes'. That was truly amazing.

I clearly need to stay up later and go out more.

I'm not hopeful for the rest of the summer since it's been cold and wet now for weeks and the forecast is shocking almost until the end of the month and then it's autumn again and once more the UK will have missed out on a summer and once again girls will remain resolutely in hateful trainers and socks.

On a different subject, I've noticed on You Tube that a lot of female Japanese bands play barefoot, especially the bass players - not sure why this should be but it's a delight to see anyway.

Try looking at bands like Otoboke Beaver and Taranoko Rammy.

Trouble is a lot have names written in Japanese so it's a process of trial and error finding new barefoot girl bands.

I went to carnival yesterday as I usually do and I'm sorry to have to report the current epidemic of trainer and sock-wearing crushed any hint of barefoot girl sightings. Even girls sitting on window ledges in their homes on the route were often wearing trainers. How I HATE them (trainers, not the girls).

The added pity was that the weather was the warmest for 50 years so no excuses about wrapping up warm like a couple of years ago.

It's so sad to reflect on this when thinking back to the halcyon days of the 1980s when it was a question of how many barefoot girls you'd see. I long for their return.

I'll rely on white collar boxing events in future.

In fact that brings to mind a wider point: that girls who adopt the 'alternative' look are now LESS likely to go barefoot than their more mainstream sisters. And in fact that's not too much of a problem for me at least since I've always found the barefoot look more attractive on girls who are otherwise dressed up than dressed down.

Hence my calls elsewhere on this board for barefoot girls who are all dressed up in jewellery, make-up etc. Barefoot punk girls are a turn on too but hippies leave me totally cold.

Anyway, any sightings in any other summer carnivals in the UK or northern Europe? Including Russia.

I'm yet to try white collar boxing, but I find weddings to be a pretty reliable source for the well dressed barefoot combo.

I'm lucky enough to attend many weddings each month during the summer as a musician. By the evening the drink has been flowing nicely, the music starts up and the high heels come off.

Generally the more drunk the wedding party the more barefoot the ladies become. Needless to say it can be very distracting while trying to play.

I have just seen lovely looking blonde girl who was barefoot in Piccadilly train station (Manchester). She had a big rucksack on her back and looked as though she was doing some travelling. I didn't speak to her but she had that European look about her.

Her soles were absolutely filthy. I was able to watch her for a few moments but I had to leave.

Didn't get any chance for any pics either.

My best sighting this year anyway!

Mike123, I noticed trainers also taking over here in the US too. I hate that trend too! Girls with flip flops or sandals easily slip them off for ditching. But trainers always seem to stay on. I hope the trend does not last too long.

I'd love to see photos of her barefooting. I've looked through albums on flickr, and never seen a photo of her. You'd think she'd stand out. A woman wearing barefoot sandals to a festival like that is going to be one in a million.
