I know that this was brought up in the past but just want to let everyone know that new users can't register for this site. I heard this from someone recently. Hopefully this can fixed otherwise the forum will shrink.

For what I know, no new registrations to the forum have been allowed since February 2018 or so.
It was an attempt to avoid massive spamming attacks.
I am no IT guru, but I had heard that the problem is the Forum's outdated operative system, which makes it prone to such attacks.
If I am not mistaken, the only solution would be Pavel upgrading the system.. but I doubt that he is going to spend much time and energy to do that.
All forums are slowly dying. Even WU's, which covers a much wide range of foot-related topics than this forum.
And in any case.. even when new subscriptions were still allowed.. there were probably less than 30 "genuine" active members.
By "genuine", I mean "excluding puppet accounts".. which means, "Forum members" which had joined in, say, 2007 and waited till 2018 to make their first post.. biggrin.gif

I'll try to enable the registrations. Let's see if spam will appear again.

Yeah.. that's quite a bunch of dudes with weird names celebrating their birthday today.. biggrin.gif

Admins are NOT having fun with re-opening of new memberships.. Hal wrote me that every time he logs in, he has to throw a lot of crap in the garbage can.. sad.gif

I have just finished deleting about 7 or 8 spammers sad.gif

Maybe, if it's not too hard work, the new users' register could be open for only one or two days every three months. That would limit the amout of spammers.

In the meantime, let's have a happy hunting!

I hope all the members that have been waiting to join this forum have already made it. It would be good that Pavel would close the register again, we have been invaded by spammers in the last days.

Hello amigo.. I deffo support your view. I think that the (relatively few) genuine new members have already joined. It's time to close the gates again.
Massive spamming is annoying and drives non-members away from the Forum.

I think I've managed to deny new users' registration. I hope Paul does not mind.

Anyways, I think we'll have to deal with spammers that have already register during the last days and are just waiting to send their spam. Let's find out.

Very well done, amigo, thank you very much indeed!
I hope that Paul does not mind too.. I mean, new spam-bots joining on a daily basis were surely not providing any value to the Forum! sad.gif
As for the already registered spamming profiles.. isn't there a way to block them or to terminate them?
