City-feet members' message board > Maintainance > New users can't register (broken image code) |
Posted by: Hal Heaven Feb 3 2017, 05:01 PM |
Hi Paul, A person informed me that he can't register as a new user to the forum on this page: http://forum.city-feet.com/index.php/act.Reg.CODE.00 I check it out and he's right: The "security image code" doesn't load (the image doesn't show up). When clicking on the broken image I get this error message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function ImageTTFBBox() in /home/putnikbox93/forum.city-feet.com/sources/functions.php on line 569 Any ideas? Cheers, -Hal- |

Hi Hal, Thank you for your notice. I've fixed the error. |

As soon as the error was fixed we had a massive spammer attack by: iqexiloh DentalGery Nikolaypex Thomasemaip LeslieNal eyayakehazano The messages have been deleted and the accounts have been suspended, we should come to a manual approval of new members, I think. |

Thanks for taking care of it, DG. Yes, I think we should also change it to manual approval. Paul, what do you think? -Hal- |

How can we distinguish between spammers and normal registrations while doing manual approval? |

Hi and happy valentine's day![]() you can make registration harder for IPs that have unusual number of sign up requests for blocking spammers. manual approval is not an easy way. for example several hard security codes, captcha, email verification. more request from specific IP = more captcha and harder registration. ![]() |
