Hal's friendship and support have been all-important for the development of my photographic projects and of my paysites. If he had not showcased many of my pictures and models on TIA since 2007.. The Feetosopher would probably have never existed.
If you also add that he is a super-cool guy, and that he let me shoot some of his fantastic models naked for BAREFOOT NUDITY.. you will understand why I value Hal's friendship so much.
I wish Hal and his projects many, many more years of prosperity.. and great fun!

P.S. @Hal: thank you so much for repeatedly mentioning me in your interview, dude.. I appreciated it a lot!

I first came to Toes In Action a long time ago thanks to a candid photo of a barefoot hippie girl with very long toes, very dirty soles, a toe ring, and a big smile. I remember thinking that if only the site had more photos like that, it would be perfect. Well, as Hal said, the site slowly evolved to concentrate on dirty barefoot photography and I've been a fan ever since. I liked Heike, but when Fee and Shirin appeared, I was excited. When Katja and Indra and Vivian appeared, I realized Hal was now catering to people like me, and was so happy. Then Celeste appears....wow. That first video of Celeste where she sits across the bench with her legs crossed and those jet-black toes in front of the camera.... amazing.

I also agree with Hal that the dirty feet element is sexy because it represents a free spirit nonconformity that's also brave. It's a "badge of honor" and a girl who is proud of her filthy feet because she's a free spirit is so erotic. The blacker the soles, the sexier the girl. Add in the hippie style of a Celeste or Anchor or Katja, and it's just perfect.

Hal's photography has also made me realize just how laid back and nonconformist much of German society is, and makes me envious given that such free spirits are rare here in the USA. I need to get to Germany again, this time in the summer, and hopefully see many hippie goddesses with black feet.

Very nice interview---can I ask you one question? Do you know why David Margueles, an excellent photografer of barefoot girls, I'm sure you know his work, isn't an active member of this board? It's just strange to me, though, maybe, he is a lonely wolf....

Really interesting interview! Hal is definitely one of the good guys in this niche we love, so it's great to see him get some recognition, and learn a little more about the legend!

@Dude: You should definitely come over to Germany (or Europe) -- so far the weather hasn't been very good in northern Germany but hopefully July/August will be warm & dry. When was the last time you were in Germany?

I was there in April 2008 in Bavaria. Some days were cold and rainy, a few days were warmer (T-shirt weather), and I really wasn't looking hard for girls with no shoes (traveling with a female companion).

I feel like I should get to Berlin in August for the Hanfparade and enjoy the barefoot hippies and punks. I guess Freiburg or other towns would also be good for sightings, but going in July/August would probably be the right time, rather than April.

I see you added another "candid street feet" gallery, which is great. I love the random barefoot girls on the street, especially knowing that's how you found so many of your models.

It's an excellent interview! It is good to know a bit more about our heroes: Hal, The Feetosopher, RedX...

I visited Berlin last year in August, for a couple days. One night I saw a pretty girl in the train station, with no shoes at all. Her feet were long, slender and high arched, with long, elegant toes, and her soles were pitch black... a heavenly sight!

You were very lucky DG2001.
I traveled many times to Berlin, but I've never been as lucky as you to see barefoot women, even if it's tld that German people are very barefoot friendly

Time flies fast, it seems like yesterday when TIA started, it was one the first sites I was checking since back then.

Congratulations for staying on top all these years, and till eternity and beyond God will, we will be under ground, but surely the grandkids of our grandkids will never cease enjoying TIA.
