| Following a recent post about the film "Bell, Book & Candle", which features a barefoot Kim Novak, I thought it fitting to create a New "barefoot movies" thread to highlight films that have significant barefoot scenes. We've all seen films like Crocodile Dundee and Splash, etc where the girls are barefoot for several minutes but this list is for those films where female cast members have lengthy barefoot roles or are prefereably barefoot throughout the duration of the film. Really hoping that this thread gets a good response and that we can build up a great list of both classic and modern films that we can all keep an eye out for. |

| I would add Bread love and Dreams or Pane amore et fantasia with Gina Lollobrigida an Vitorio De Sica from 1953, Gina plays the town walf- dirty barefoot and in tattered scanty rag of a dress (similar in someways to Paulette Goddard in Modern times) who is always in trouble almost up until the very end when there's a brief scene of her redemption when she has shoes . Butterfly with Pia Zadora and Stacy Keach 1982 Would love to find Journey with Genevieve Bujold. She had some brief barefoot scenes in Swashbuckler where she becomes a pirate wench after her family is ruined |

| check out Tonka, an italian-french film dated 1997....pamela soo plays an amazing barefoot character named Tonka.....she is barefoot troughout the whole movie, run in the track barefoot and talks about her barefeet....just wonderful...here is the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xKrdD--hpU hope youlike it ! |

| Hello All. I report to this list almost all the film I reported in the previous discussion : - The Big Bird CageThe Big Bird Cage is a great film : Anitra Ford an many other woman prisoners are barefeet all the film,in a forest / field prison camp environement. -Blood Story (2010) : Chloë Grace Moretz is barefeet in a lot of scene,even on snow. - Wierook en Tranen 1977 : here the youtube link to complete film : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DySNCSdBfFY&feature=youtu.be The film is set in world war 2. One of the protagonist is a young girls,that is always barefeet for almost all the film,often she walking on very bad path. Unfortunately is not in english,so I did not understand a word about the dialog (to be honest also in english I not understand much,but some dialog maybe yes.. - The Marine 2 - year 2009 : the girl of the protagonist is kidnapped,then for 3/4 of the film she try to escape barefeet - Under the skin - 2013 : in this strange and bad film Scarlett Johansson in some scene is copletely naked (so also the feet) - The Court Jester : bad old film,but one of the protagonist is always barefeet - Jungle Child / Dschungelkind 2011 : is the biograpy Sabine Kuegler,grew up in the New Guinea forest,due to the work of his father. Her (and her family) lives for many year in strict contact with indigenous tribe : can she wear shoes ? Obviously not : she grew up always barefeet on the forest like other indigen child,with the good consequences on her soles. - Bitter Rice / Riso Amaro : is set on the environement of rice-weeders,the protagonist is Silvana Mangano,but a lot of the other woman of the film were rice-weeders in the real life (and the rice fields were was filmed are quite near me...) Unfortunately is black and white. Rice Girl / La risaia : a kind of remake of bitter rice,but in color.Very nice scenes : also here many girls were real rice-weeders,and in many scenes is possible to notice their ultra tough soles. - Black Snake Moan 2006 : Christina Ricci barefeet very often - Io Jane tu Tarzan : I have not seen this film,but I know that a young Carmen Russo here is a "barefoot legend jane" I have almost all the film I listed,so I can share some of them with who have difficoult to find them in other ways... I also would be grateful to those who can find and share some film I can't find, like "Journey" or "Io Jane tu Tarzan" |

| The movie Lakeview Terrace has Kerry Washington barefoot practically throughout it. She spends most of the time in her house though. She is not a barefooter, although she clearly likes being barefoot. |

| As mentioned in the previous thread - Gator Bait (1974) the main character is barefoot throughout the whole movie - I love you, Alice B Toklas - Golden temple amazons Also recommend : -"The hitchhikers" the main character barefoot nearly the whole of movie and -"Inara, jungle girl" from the moment she arrives to the jungle she´s barefoot for the rest of the movie. |

I've seen what I can of Gina's barefoot scenes in Bread Love and Dreams and she looks sooo good...so sexy. I love the scene where she's sweeping the stage...I think barefoot women sweeping a dirty floor are a turn on for sure. If the floor is dirty enough to be swept, just imagine what her soles look like afterwards. This could be a great City Feet idea that I wish Paul would consider. |

I Love You Alice B Toklas is rich because of the beautiful...and I mean beautiful Leigh TaylorYoung. I just wish that there were more sole shots of her in this movie. Gator Bait is a treat from beginning to end...Claudia Jennings is a dream. Inara, Jungle Girl is awesome, like all of those jungle girl movies...one that I remember from years back is Tarzana, Jungle Girl. I can't seem to find The Hitchhikers however... |

| Thank you ALL for the great response and the fine list created so far. Really looking forward to watching a few of these films so thanks also for the links which help considerably. Not too sure about "Wierook en Tranen" though. I have seen this and love how dirty her feet get on those real life locations but please lets keep this to cast members who are 18 and over. Time to add my own movies to the list, which I forgot to do at the beginning. The first is a 1982 French horror film directed by Jean Rollin and starring Marina Pierro called "Living Dead Girl" or "La Mort Vivante" if you want it's official name. It features a vampire girl who spends the entire film in a long dress and bare feet. I haven't actually seen it yet but it's high on my list of films I'd like to watch. Another one is the more recent "S Darko" which looks a little strange but features a great looking lass (Daveigh Elizabeth Chase) who I beleive is barefoot throughout the film. | A few more for the list are Tobacco Road 1941 With Gene Tierney who is barefoot thoughout in a torn a dirty dress. Has a then controversial scene of her crawling on her belly in the mud as she goes for a turnip. God's Little Acre 1958 also by Erksine Caldwell tries to caputure the success the earlier of Tobacco Road . Almost all the female characters are barefoot. A more recent film Shadrach 1998 about similar characters has lots of dirty feet . One scene that stands out is a couple having sex in a broken down jalopy on bricks in the front yard in the middle of the day. The girls dirty soles are sticking out of the car window as her feet move to an unmistakable rhythm. Tobacco Road help set up the trope of the dirty barefoot and sexually loose sharecropper girl , which became an essential part of Hillbillysploitation movies -many were done in the 60's and 70's . The Pig Keeper's Daughter, Sassy Sue ect. Many of these were re released by Something Weird Video on dvd |

The more of Hillbillysploitation the better, I say. having grown up in the American south (not hillbilly south) I can say for sure that it used to be the bastion of barefoot girls....that stuff wasn't invented by hollywood by any means. Girls (and boys) just went barefooted back in the day in the south. It was as natural as breathing. i remember so well, growing up on a certain street....down the road lived a dirt poor family...and the family's only daughter, was a "fetching young lady" who seemingly NEVER wore shoes...she was a smaller version of Gene Tierney in Tobacco Road. This girl would see me in the yard with the slide/swing set and come running over, lay face down on the slide, and beg me to tickle her dirty bare feet...which, of course, I would. Anyway....I love the Hillbillysploitation stuff for the fact that barefoot girls were part of their DNA...and an unescapable feature of the rural south....always a great thing! |

| Two more to add to the list La Terra Trema by Luchino Visconti 1948 , Italian Neo Realist film about a poor Sicilian fishing village. Everyone is barefoot and in rags. Some nice scenes of one of the young women going barefoot over volcanic rock as she meets her boyfriend in secret. Completely opposite is C'era una Volta aka More than a Miracle 1967 with Sophia Loren. An Italian version of Cinderella. Not a children's movie as there is to much romantic tension between Sophia Loren and Omar Sharif. The main reason to watch this is a sultry Sophia Loren who is barefoot through out the film Feestopher your input is valued here ! There is an archetype of the sexy barefoot Italian peasant woman similar to the American equivalent to Southern sharecropper girl who is almost always barefoot and available. The Italian films that have been mentioned so far are Riso Amaro/Bitter Rice, Rice Girl /La Risa ,Pane Amore et Fantasia /,Bread Love and dreams , La Terra Tremma and C'era una volta/More than a miracle. Can you think of any others ? |

| Two more films to add to the list are The Stranngers with Liv Tyler 2008, a break in movie where Liv is terrorized and barefoot throughout. Not a good film not a bad film, the main reason to see it is Liv Tyler barefoot. Another film is Wildflowers 1999, A confused movie about lost 60's hippies in 1985 San Francisco. The main reason to see it is Daryl Hannah as moody hippy femme fatale who is always barefoot |

| Of all the filmed listed in this thread, for my money...I'd choose Paulette Goddard from the Chaplin movie Modern Times....even more than Leigh Taylor-Young in Alice B. Toklas I Love You... Paulette had beautiful feet, for one thing. She was petite, only 5'-4" and she had a great figure and legs as well. I love the shabby "gamine's" dress she wore for that movie, and she commanded the movie with every sexy move that she made. She even secured a movie role by visiting the office of Cecil B. DeMille and putting her bare foot on his desk and saying "and I have beautiful feet"...(she knew he was a foot fetishist). Roaming around on the city streets of the movie set of Modern Times, her sole were as black as charcoal, and this can be seen in a scene where she runs into Chaplin on the sidewalk and takes a tumble...on top of Chaplin, with her soles facing the camera. She was barefoot for well over half the movie and I would have loved to have been her makeup man for that film. |

| Yes Modern Times is my favorite as well. When buying the DVD be careful and do not get the one from the Official Chaplin Collection. This version is artificially letter boxed,which means Paulette's feet are cropped out. There are earlier versions on DVD that aren't cropped. Another Paulette Godard movie where she is barefoot is Kitty from 1945 where she is barefoot waif from 18th Century London. This is only for the first 15 minutes or so. If you Google Paulette Godard Kitty or some combination of you can find some nice film still of her in rags and dirty bare feet. Unfortunately Kitty has not had a decent DVD release and the copies that are out there are bad VHS rips There is also Unconquered 1947 by Cecil B. DeMille , Paulette is an indentured servant in pre Revolutionary America. She is in rags but unfortunately wears worn out shoes, there are a few fleeting moments of her bare feet. Modern Times is Paulette Godard's masterpiece critically her best film and of course her bare feet Would love to find more barefoot movies of Paulette Godard ,if anyone knows of anything. |

| Just wanted to add my appreciation for Paulette Goddard in Modern Times, as well. She looks so beautiful in that film, and it's an all-time classic for fans of barefoot girls. |
